Hey folks! I've got some exciting news for all you Baldur's Gate 3 fans out there. A dedicated team of modders is crafting an ambitious custom campaign called Path to Menzoberranzan, and things are really starting to take shape!

Imagine venturing into Minthara's homeland, exploring locations that'll give you some serious Baldur's Gate nostalgia. That's the promise of this mod, and according to the developers, they've now got a working build up and running.

According to Lotrich, the project lead, they've made significant progress on the starting location. This build includes combat, dialogues, companions, and a taste of the story. I know you are all excited, but sadly the build isn't available to the public just yet. Still, it's a major step toward a future demo.

I reached out to Lotrich for an update on the demo, considering their initial mid-2025 target. While he's keeping the exact details under wraps for now, he did tease that they have some demo-related news coming soon. So, keep your eyes peeled!

What Else is New?

The team is also diving deep into implementing custom music, which I think will add a whole new layer of atmosphere to the adventure. Plus, they're creating new armor and 3D models for the mod's companions, who'll be a fresh, fully voice-acted cast.

It's not just about content, either. They're also focusing on reorganizing the teams to streamline their workflow, which is always a good sign. A well-organized team is a productive team!

Previously, we've only seen snippets of the mod through screenshots and videos, showcasing characters wandering around Athkatla. The aim is to deliver an explorable Waukeen's Promenade and Irenicus' Dungeon in the demo.

I'm personally really excited to see what this mod brings to the table. Baldur's Gate 3 is a tough act to follow, but it's awesome to see modders pushing the boundaries with the tools Larian released. Let's hope they can deliver an incredible experience!
