Hey everyone! I've got some exciting news for those who love a good point-and-click adventure. Revolution Software just announced that they're remaking Broken Sword: The Smoking Mirror! The new version, called Broken Sword: The Smoking Mirror – Reforged, is coming to PS5, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Switch, and PC (via Steam) in early 2026. It's great to see a classic getting some love, right?

What's New?

From what I've gathered, this isn't just a simple re-release. They're really putting in the work to enhance the game for modern platforms. Charles Cecil, the founder of Revolution Software, mentioned that they're respecting the original while making it shine for today's audience. I think that's the best approach; keep the soul of the game intact but make it look and play better.

For those unfamiliar with the story, you play as journalist Nico Collard, who stumbles upon an ancient artifact while investigating a drug gang. Of course, this leads her and her adventure buddy George Stobbart into a crazy adventure full of mystery and danger. Think Mayan mysteries, deadly villains, and maybe even some divine intervention! Sounds like a wild ride, doesn't it?

They are adding a bunch of cool features to Reforged. For example, you'll be able to switch between modern and classic point-and-click styles, which is awesome for both newcomers and old-school fans. Plus, they're giving the visuals a massive upgrade to 4K, enhancing the audio, and even restoring previously unseen dialogue from the original scripts. I am super curious about this!

And it seems like they are being very considerate of how players want to experience the game. There's a graphics toggle to switch between the original and Reforged visuals, a game help system with story recaps and hints, and support for mouse, controller, and touchscreen controls. It's all about giving you options, which is always a good thing.
