Clair Obscur Patch 1.2.3 Nerfs Powerful Build
Sandfall Interactive has released a significant patch for their popular RPG, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. The update, version 1.2.3, focuses on bug fixes and, importantly, balance adjustments. A major nerf has been applied to a particularly powerful build utilizing Maelle, the young fencer, and the Medalum sword. This combination, when used with the Stendahl skill, allowed players to inflict billions of damage, trivializing even the final boss.
Addressing the Stendahl Overpowered Build
While the developers intended for players to find ways to “break” the game, the Stendahl build went beyond what was considered acceptable. The patch notes explicitly detail a 40% damage reduction to the Stendahl skill, bringing it more in line with other gameplay options. The patch also corrects a bug where Medalum's third Lumina ability was incorrectly amplifying all damage, rather than just Burn damage, in Virtuose Stance.
Extensive Bug Fixes and Quality of Life Improvements
Beyond the balance changes, patch 1.2.3 boasts a large number of bug fixes. These include fixes for issues on the Steam Deck, ultrawide resolutions, mouse and keyboard controls, and numerous instances where players could get stuck in the game world. Specific problems affecting the character Esquie have also been addressed. Further fixes involve weapon and skill scaling, and various other gameplay issues, creating a more polished and enjoyable experience. The game’s immense popularity, having already sold over 2 million copies, underlines the success of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.
