CD Projekt is seriously ramping up development for Cyberpunk 2, and that's something I'm really excited about! According to their recent financial report, the team size is set to almost triple over the next couple of years. While most of their focus right now is on The Witcher 4, it looks like Cyberpunk 2 won't be far behind.

Currently, there are 135 developers working on Cyberpunk 2. However, the plan is to significantly expand the teams in Warsaw, Vancouver, and especially at their new Boston studio. The Boston team, which is about 80 people strong and mostly composed of senior staff, is expected to double in size by 2027. That's a lot of new talent being poured into this project!

This expansion follows lessons learned from the rocky launch of the original Cyberpunk 2077. I remember the frustration everyone felt with the bugs and performance issues. It sounds like CD Projekt is determined to avoid repeating those mistakes by investing heavily in their development teams and infrastructure. The goal is to work on both Cyberpunk and The Witcher simultaneously, instead of bouncing back and forth.

What to Expect

With this kind of investment, I'm hoping for a much smoother launch for Cyberpunk 2. A larger, more experienced team should be able to tackle the complexities of creating a detailed and immersive open-world game.

While it's still early in development, the growing team size is a promising sign. It suggests that CD Projekt is committed to delivering a high-quality experience that lives up to the hype.

Of course, more developers doesn't always guarantee a perfect game. However, with a more deliberate and well-funded approach, I'm optimistic that Cyberpunk 2 will avoid the pitfalls of its predecessor and become the game we all hoped for.

For now, The Witcher 4 is still the priority in terms of release. But, it's reassuring to see that Cyberpunk 2 is getting the attention and resources it needs to become something truly special. Let's hope all this investment pays off and we get a fantastic Cyberpunk experience!
