Dune Awakening Tops Steam Charts Before Launch
Dune Awakening, Funcom's upcoming survival MMO, has made a significant splash on Steam's top sellers chart. Even before its official release, it managed to surpass Elden Ring Nightreign, a title that had already achieved impressive sales figures. Only Counter-Strike 2 currently stands in its way.
Early Access Success
The game's impressive showing comes on the heels of a successful closed beta, which saw a peak of 37,889 concurrent players. This beta was eventually extended to include pre-orderers, giving them a taste of the early game. The Deluxe and Ultimate Editions went on sale a day before the main game launch, leading to this surge on Steam.
What to Expect
While it’s impossible to know exactly which version of the game contributed most to the sales surge, it's clear that there's considerable excitement building around Dune Awakening. Funcom recently detailed the mid-to-late game experience, focusing on long-term gameplay loops and player engagement. The game also features a unique Landsraad system, involving rotating server-wide tasks that will pit players against each other in faction-based conflicts.
Set in an alternate history inspired by Frank Herbert's novels and the recent Villeneuve films, Dune Awakening offers a unique blend of survival and open-world MMO elements. Developed by Funcom, the studio behind Conan Exiles and The Secret World, the game promises a deep and immersive experience for fans of the Dune universe and the survival genre. The full launch is scheduled for June 10th.
