FF7 Remake Part 3 Hints from Magic Card
The upcoming Magic: The Gathering x Final Fantasy crossover is generating significant buzz, not just for its impressive roster of characters, but also for a potential major reveal. The collaboration features two cards of Sephiroth, the iconic villain from Final Fantasy VII: "Fabled SOLDIER" and "One-Winged Angel." These cards, when placed together, reveal a complete artwork of the character. The artwork is noteworthy because it shows a different depiction of Safer Sephiroth, the final boss form.
A New Safer Sephiroth
Tetsuya Nomura, the original character designer, confirmed that he created the cards' art to combine into a single image. He also noted a deliberate design choice for Safer Sephiroth in the card art, differing from his appearance in the original game. This has led to significant fan speculation that the new design is a sneak peek at Safer Sephiroth's appearance in Final Fantasy VII Remake Part 3. The most striking difference is that this Safer Sephiroth possesses both arms, unlike the one-armed, winged form seen in the original game.
More Than Just Sephiroth
Beyond Sephiroth, the collaboration boasts an impressive collection of cards representing the Final Fantasy series. A notable highlight is the inclusion of fifteen different versions of Cid, a recurring character across the series, each represented by a unique "Cid, Timeless Artificer" card. The set is designed to bring the RPG gameplay into the card game format, ensuring a unique and engaging experience for fans of both titles. The full crossover, including four Commander Decks based on Final Fantasy VI, VII, X, and XIV, launches on June 13th.
