FF7 Remake Trilogy Headed to Switch 2

RPG

Exciting news for fans of the Final Fantasy VII Remake! A recent video featuring director Naoki Hamaguchi hints at the possibility of the entire trilogy making its way to the Nintendo Switch 2. While Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade has been confirmed for the new console, Hamaguchi's enthusiastic comments about the game's potential on the Switch 2's hardware suggest more than just the first installment is planned.

More Than Just Intergrade?

Hamaguchi repeatedly refers to the “Final Fantasy VII remake series” in the video, expressing his excitement about bringing the project to a Nintendo console for the first time. He even comments on the potential for "two generations to connect" thanks to the series arriving on the Switch 2. This strongly suggests that Rebirth, the second part of the trilogy, and potentially the upcoming third game, are also in the works for Nintendo's newest platform.

What About Other Consoles?

The future of the Final Fantasy VII Remake trilogy on other consoles remains uncertain. While Rebirth is currently a PlayStation 5 exclusive, Square Enix's recent shift towards a multiplatform strategy could change things. This strategy, adopted in response to sales figures for both Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and Final Fantasy XVI, opens up possibilities for future releases on Xbox and other platforms. The release of the third and final game and any platform exclusivity it might have is still a mystery.
