Frostpunk 2: Console Release Date Announced for PS5 and Xbox Series

Hey everyone! Great news for those of you who prefer chilling on your couch with a controller in hand. Frostpunk 2, the sequel to the city-builder survival game that had us all making tough choices, is hitting PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series on September 18th! And get this – it's also launching on Game Pass. Talk about a sweet deal!

I remember being totally engrossed in the first Frostpunk, trying to keep my city alive through harsh winters. The dilemmas were intense! Knowing that Frostpunk 2 is coming to consoles with a revamped interface makes me super excited. The developers at 11 bit studios have been working hard to make sure the console experience is smooth. They've learned from the first game's console port and have refined the controls. Navigating the city and making crucial decisions should be easier than ever with a controller. It sounds like they've really focused on making the game feel natural and intuitive, even with all its complexity. I’m excited to see how the circular interface plays out. It should allow players to manage the politics and people of New London with the controller.

They've made some cool tweaks to the control scheme too. You can quickly switch between districts and access actions with a dynamic radial menu. Sounds pretty slick! And guess what? The PC version is getting an update with this new UI if you plug in a gamepad, which is awesome. "Our ambition is to once again prove that even complex strategy games can feel intuitive and satisfying on consoles," said Frostpunk 2 production coordinator Igor Skibinski.

Physical Editions? Yes, Please!

For those who love collecting physical goodies, there are some awesome editions coming out. The Icebreaker Edition gets you the game, a pop-up diorama, a digital novella, and a digital artbook. But if you're feeling fancy, the Whiteout Edition includes all that plus a multi-layered shadow box with LED lighting, a Deluxe Edition upgrade, a metal keychain, postcards, and faction patches. I'm a sucker for collector's editions, so I'm definitely tempted!
