So, the news dropped yesterday that Goro Abe, the mastermind behind the WarioWare series, is leaving Nintendo. But don't worry, it's not game over for him, not by a long shot!

Turns out, he's not ditching game development. According to his X/Twitter account, he's becoming a professor at Osaka Electro-Communication University. Sounds like a big change, right? He will be working at the Department of Digital Games.

But here's the cool part: Abe says he'll still be making games through "industry-academia collaboration". He's talking about small, experimental games with unusual mechanics that go beyond what you'd normally see in the market. And of course, he will also be creating gamified social services!

Think about it: this could mean games even crazier than WarioWare. Which, let's be honest, is saying something! I think that stepping away from Nintendo could give him the space to try all sorts of new things.

He started at Nintendo with Wario Land 4 back in 2001 as a programmer and his last one was WarioWare: Move It! in 2023. So, it's cool to see that he's leaving on good terms. Also, his vision is all over the games he's directed, and his departure opens the door for new ideas.

By the way, he also mentioned the potential future of the WarioWare series, which could mean a new game might be in the works. Who knows? Regardless, it's hard to imagine a world where Wario isn't causing chaos somewhere. I'm personally hyped to see what he cooks up next!
