GTA 4 Remaster

GTA 4 Remaster Considered by Rockstar Veteran

Action

Rumors of a Grand Theft Auto IV remaster have been swirling, fueled by online leaks and speculation. Adding to the buzz, Obbe Vermeij, a former Rockstar Games technical director who worked on the original GTA 4, recently shared his thoughts. While he hasn't confirmed any official plans, Vermeij believes a remaster is warranted.

He stated that GTA 4 is a fantastic game and that several successful remasters have been released recently, suggesting it's a viable project. Vermeij also highlighted the game's protagonist, Niko, as a fan favorite, a sentiment widely shared among the gaming community.

Technical Aspects and Timing

Vermeij speculated that Rockstar might utilize the latest version of its Rage engine for a potential remaster. However, the timing is a significant consideration. With the highly anticipated GTA 6 slated for release, launching a remaster concurrently might dilute sales and overshadow the flagship title. The possibility of an external studio handling the port, similar to the Red Dead Redemption port, remains a possibility.

Despite the enthusiast’s excitement, it’s crucial to temper expectations. Rockstar hasn't officially announced any plans for a GTA 4 remaster. The sheer scale of GTA 6 development might make undertaking another significant project simultaneously a logistical challenge, even for a studio with Rockstar's resources.

Nevertheless, the idea of revisiting Liberty City in a remastered GTA 4 continues to capture the imagination of many players. Whether this dream becomes reality remains to be seen. The focus, for now, rightly remains on the upcoming GTA 6 release.
