Hey everyone! Get ready for a blast from the past because Heretic and Hexen, those awesome shooters from the 90s, are back in a cool new bundle. I'm talking about Heretic + Hexen, and it's packed with updates and extra goodies.

The awesome re-release of those iconic games was announced at QuakeCon. Nightdive Studios and id Software joined forces to give these classics some love, just like they did with Doom and Doom 2. That's some amazing news, right?

id Software's Marty Stratton and Hugo Martin showed off the Heretic + Hexen bundle during QuakeCon. What's included? You get Heretic: Shadow of the Serpent Riders, Hexen: Beyond Heretic, and Hexen: Deathkings of the Dark Citadel. But wait, there's more! Two brand-new chapters have been created specifically for this re-release: Heretic: Faith Renewed and Hexen: Vestiges of Grandier. Isn't that great?

If you already own the older versions of these games, you're in luck! You'll get a free upgrade to the new bundle. And don't worry, the new version won't replace your old ones.

What's New?

Matthew Tropiano, a developer, mentioned that they wanted to create something new for Heretic and Hexen. "Kaiser took point on the Heretic episode, while I handled the Hexen episode." They even got help from community members and the original devs, which is super cool!

The additions also bring in-game support for community mods, local and online multiplayer for up to 16 players with crossplay, and a remixed soundtrack. Plus, if you have the hardware, you can crank up the resolution to 4K at 120 FPS. There's even a vault with concept art.

For us PC gamers, Heretic + Hexen costs £13.49/$14.99 on Steam or GOG.com. And it's available on Xbox Game Pass too. If you haven't played Hexen, you're in for a treat. And if you're new to Heretic, think of it as a dark fantasy cousin to Doom.

Seriously, what's not to love? Grab your copy and get ready to dive into some classic shooter action with a modern twist!
