InZoi Mac Launch: August Release, Player Count Drops
The life simulation game InZoi, which launched in early access this March, is making its way to Mac computers this August. Pre-orders are now open, with a release date set for August 20th. The developers invite players to "Let your imagination lead the way" in their announcement.
A Rocky Start?
InZoi's initial success was remarkable, surpassing 1 million sales within a week of its launch. However, the game has experienced a significant drop in player numbers since then. Steam data reveals a dramatic decline from a peak of 87,377 concurrent players to a mere 1,753 in the last 24 hours – a 98% decrease. While post-launch declines are common, this drop is unusually steep.
For context, The Sims 4 currently boasts a much higher 24-hour peak player count, suggesting InZoi hasn't yet achieved its potential as a "Sims killer". Even The Sims 3, a game released in 2009, maintains a similar player count to InZoi, highlighting the game's current challenges. The Mac release may offer InZoi a chance to revitalize its player base and expand its reach.
