It's that time of year again! Several japanese game developers shared some insights about their future endeavors. Let's dive into some of the more interesting comments and see what we can expect. A lot of companies are planning big things for 2026, especially since some major franchises are hitting milestone anniversaries. Persona, for example, will be celebrating its 30th anniversary. According to Atlus, they are planning a variety of initiatives on a global scale to celebrate, and we might even hear about future developments, like a possible Persona 4 Revival. I'm personally hyped for this, because I'm a big fan of Persona 4 Golden, and think it would be amazing to see it get a modern update. Another big anniversary is Dragon Quest, which turns 40 in 2026. Square Enix wants everyone to join in on a grand celebration, and they might have a little something planned for NieR: Automata's ninth anniversary, too. I'm also keeping an eye on CyberConnect2, which will be celebrating its 30th anniversary. To mark the occasion, they're planning an anniversary party and will announce a special 30th-anniversary title. Knowing CyberConnect2, it could be something related to Naruto, Dragon Ball, or even .hack. Aside from anniversaries, some companies are teasing brand new titles. Arc System Works is planning something special for the Kunio-kun series' 40th anniversary. Koei Tecmo's Gust brand is working on new titles outside of the Atelier series, and Team Ninja also plans to share news on new titles and series. While details are scarce, Inti Creates is preparing to announce new developments in the Gunvolt Chronicles: Luminous Avenger iX series and is also working on unannounced titles. LEVEL-5 is steadily progressing on Decapolice, which they say will feature unique gameplay challenges involving deduction and storytelling. With all these teases and announcements, 2026 is shaping up to be a very interesting year for gaming.
