Metro 2033 Redux: Grab It Free on Steam & GOG for a Limited Time!

Games

Fifteen years after its initial release, Metro 2033 remains a standout title. Anyone who's played remembers the Uboinik automatic shotgun. That weapon, and its intricate reloading animation, is etched in my memory.

The love and attention poured into the details of Metro 2033, the spiritual successor to S.T.A.L.K.E.R. developed by 4A Games, is still impressive. Set in the Moscow underground after a nuclear apocalypse, the game plunges you into a world where ammo is currency, and every corner is filled with danger from bandits and mutants. The atmosphere is thick, and survival is a constant struggle.

Here's the good news: To celebrate its 15th anniversary, Metro 2033 Redux is available for free on both GOG and Steam! But act fast – this offer is only valid for a limited time!

The original Metro 2033 was praised for its immersive world and atmosphere, even if some felt the gameplay didn't quite match the visual fidelity. As Alec Meer noted, the game presented a disconnect between its stunning visuals and the moment-to-moment action.

What's New in Redux?

The Redux version, released in 2014, enhances the original with improved graphics, gameplay tweaks, and additional modes. Christopher Livingston highlighted the improvements: "if you enjoyed Metro 2033, I strongly suspect you'll like it even more on the new engine, especially since the options for a grueling, hardcore experience are still there despite the revamped stealth and improved AI making things a little easier for you.” It's the definitive way to experience this post-apocalyptic adventure.

For those following 4A Games, it's worth noting the studio's history. Originally founded in Ukraine in 2006, the studio split in 2014, with a portion forming a new studio in Malta. While they collaborated on Metro for years, the studios are now separate. 4A Games in Ukraine has rebranded as Reburn and is developing La Quimera, while the Metro franchise remains with the Malta studio, owned by Embracer.

Don't miss out on this opportunity to grab Metro 2033 Redux for free and delve into a dark and atmospheric post-apocalyptic world!
