New 3D Mario Incoming? Why a Super Mario Odyssey Successor Could Arrive This Year
It feels like ages since we last got a proper, big-budget 3D Mario adventure, doesn't it? Super Mario Odyssey was a masterpiece, and I, like many of you, have been itching for a new one ever since. The big question is: Will this year be the year Nintendo finally delivers?
Let's be real, the wait has been excruciating. We've had some amazing 2D Mario games and remakes to keep us busy in the meantime, but nothing quite scratches that open-world, exploration-driven 3D itch. Where are we, Nintendo?
While Nintendo has kept mum about its future plans, one can imagine the immense expectations placed on the next mainline 3D Mario game. It's gotta innovate, surprise, and capture the same magic that made Odyssey such a hit. No pressure, right?
I'm personally hoping they take some bold risks. Maybe introduce some new mechanics, explore a darker storyline (but keep it family-friendly, of course), or even give Mario a new power-up that completely changes how we traverse the levels. The possibilities are endless!
What Could We Expect?
When you think about it, the 3D Mario series has always been about pushing boundaries. Super Mario 64 revolutionized platforming, Super Mario Sunshine introduced the FLUDD, and Super Mario Galaxy took us to space. Each game brought something unique to the table, and it's exciting to think about what Nintendo might have in store for us next.
For me, one of the most exciting aspects of a new 3D Mario game is the potential for co-op multiplayer. Imagine exploring vast, colorful worlds with your friends, solving puzzles, and taking down bosses together. It would add a whole new layer of fun to the experience. It could be chaotic, but that's part of the charm!
Ultimately, I think the signs are pointing towards a new 3D Mario game being on the horizon. Whether it's a direct sequel to Odyssey or something entirely new, I'm confident that Nintendo will deliver something special. So, let's keep our fingers crossed and hope that this year is the year we finally get to embark on a new 3D Mario adventure!
