New James Bond Game: 007 First Light
IO Interactive, the studio behind the Hitman series, has announced 007 First Light, a new James Bond game. This isn't your typical Bond adventure; it's a standalone origin story, showing a younger, less experienced Bond.
A Fresh Take on 007
Set in 2026, 007 First Light depicts a 26-year-old James Bond, still finding his footing as a spy. Players will witness his transformation from a Navy air crewman to a fully-fledged 007 agent through intense training and thrilling missions. This original storyline, created in collaboration with Amazon MGM Studios, promises a fresh perspective on the iconic character.
Global Adventure and Familiar Faces
Expect a globe-trotting adventure with diverse locations, ranging from snowy mountains to sunny beaches. Players will encounter familiar faces like M, Q, and Moneypenny, along with new characters such as Greenway, Bond's mentor. The gameplay will blend intense combat, high-speed chases, stealth, and gadgetry, offering a varied and immersive experience.
Powered by Glacier, Coming to PS5
Developed using IO Interactive's proprietary Glacier engine, 007 First Light is slated for release on PlayStation 5 in 2026. The game will also be enhanced for the PlayStation 5 Pro, utilizing PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) for improved visuals and aiming for a smooth 60 FPS in Quality Mode. More details about gameplay and story are promised later in the year.
