Oblivion mod lets you destroy buildings with spells, turning Cyrodiil into a demolition playground!
Okay, so there are some mods that take a whole essay to explain. But then there are mods that you "get" instantly – like this new Oblivion Remastered mod. Imagine turning the Imperial City into a chaotic cloud of bricks just by casting a few spells. Sounds fun, right? That's exactly what this mod lets you do!
The mastermind behind this madness is MadAborModding, and he's no stranger to cool Oblivion tweaks. I mean, he's already given us the ability to build houses, so it's not like he's just about destruction. It's more like... creative demolition? Whatever you want to call it, it's awesome.
Seriously, check out the GIFs and videos online. Buildings just explode into pieces when you hit them with spells. It's hilarious! Of course, if you're an NPC living in one of those buildings, maybe not so much. But hey, it's all in good fun, right? I thought I wouldn't be excited by this type of mod, but I was wrong.
According to MadAborModding, this kind of destruction is only possible thanks to Unreal Engine. Apparently, other Bethesda engines aren't quite as flexible when it comes to blowing stuff up. Lucky for us, Unreal lets you just flip a few switches and BOOM! Instant chaos.
Now, before you start worrying about turning Oblivion into a permanent wasteland, don't sweat it. The destruction is temporary. Once you hit a loading screen, everything goes back to normal. Which is probably a good thing, because trying to complete quests with piles of rubble everywhere would be a nightmare. Even though it would be awesome, this temporary feature is definitely a plus.
But MadAborModding isn't stopping there. He's planning on adding health bars to buildings, so you can see how much damage you're doing. He also wants to let you break buildings with regular weapons, not just spells. This would bring the mod closer to a full-on house fighting experience. And honestly, I didn't know I needed that in my life until now!
He's also working on a way to limit the destruction to specific areas. So, if you only want to wreak havoc in a certain part of the world, you'll be able to do that. The mod also comes with its own tweaking menu, so you can mess with things like the explosion radius and anti-gravity. Because why not?
If you're ready to unleash your inner demolition expert, you'll need UE4SS to get the mod running. And I hope your computer can handle all those flying bricks and fireplaces!
