Oblivion Remake: Bethesda Website Hints at Imminent Release

Gaming

The anticipation is building! While Bethesda hasn't officially announced it, evidence is mounting that The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remake is indeed on its way. Recent discoveries on Bethesda's website add fuel to the fire, suggesting a potential launch is imminent.

Following the discovery of screenshots and details on developer Virtuos' website, eagle-eyed fans have now unearthed references to "oblivion-remastered" within the source code of bethesda.net. This includes code for a "Buy Now" button, hinting at a release strategy.

According to reports, the plan is to potentially shadow drop the game on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S next week, possibly even including it on Xbox Game Pass. While this remains unconfirmed, the evidence suggests Bethesda is gearing up for something big.

A fan on Reddit highlighted the discovery, stating, "I was digging through the source code of bethesda.net and found a reference to 'oblivion-remastered' in the Google Tag Manager setup." The URL associated with this reference, elderscrolls.bethesda.net/en/oblivion-remastered, isn't yet live, but its recent addition to the website's code is significant.

Interestingly, the code has since been removed, mirroring the fate of the screenshots from Virtuos' website. However, as always on the internet, it's too late, copies are circulating everywhere, and the original files can still be found via archived versions of Virtuos' website.

With years of leaks and the ever-present wait for the next main entry in The Elder Scrolls series, it appears fans won't have to wait much longer to revisit (or experience for the first time) the world of Oblivion. Fingers crossed!
