Penguin Colony: Lovecraftian Twist with Penguins and 'The Thing' Vibes!
Okay, so Penguin Colony is coming, and if you ask me, it's shaping up to be pretty wild. Imagine a game where you're in Antarctica, controlling penguins, and it's all a Lovecraftian twist on "Mountains of Madness." Sounds crazy, right?
To make things even better, the devs behind Umurangi Generation, decided to get Lenval Brown – yeah, the incredible narrator from Disco Elysium – to do the voiceover for the trailer. Honestly, the trailer gives me serious "The Thing" vibes, and that's definitely a good thing. I'm already hooked.
The premise is that you're an explorer lost in time by some Old Ones, and you need to get help by controlling these penguins. You'll be sliding all over the ice and diving deep beneath it, which, knowing Lovecraft, can't be good news. If you liked Umurangi Generation, which, by the way, is a brilliant game with a strong message about decolonization, it seems like Penguin Colony will probably also have something interesting to say about Lovecraft's views on other cultures.
In this game, you can unlock different penguins to play as. Each penguin has unique skills and challenges. For example, if you play as a baby penguin, you can squeeze into tight spots, but you can't swim.
