PlayStation Stars Program Ending

Playstation

Sony has announced the end of its PlayStation Stars loyalty program in its current form. Launched in July 2022, the program allowed players to earn points redeemable for PSN wallet funds and other store items. However, after careful consideration of player engagement, Sony is sunsetting the program.

The company stated that they are re-evaluating player preferences and industry trends, aiming to create a more effective loyalty system in the future. While the current version of PlayStation Stars will be ending on November 2nd, 2026, existing members can still earn points until July 23rd, 2024. After that date, no new campaigns will be launched.

The Future of PlayStation Stars

Although the current iteration is ending, Sony assures players this isn’t the final chapter for PlayStation Stars. The company plans to utilize the data gathered to improve future iterations of the loyalty program, potentially incorporating new features and activities based on player feedback. This suggests that a revamped version of the program, better tailored to player preferences, may return in the future.

One thing that will remain, even after the current program ends, is access to previously earned Digital Collectibles. These items, which Sony has explicitly stated are not NFTs, will remain available to those who have acquired them.

The decision highlights Sony’s commitment to adapting its services based on player response. This signifies that they are actively listening to their community and are willing to make adjustments to ensure the best possible experience.
