So, last week, Nintendo dropped the news that Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen are hitting the Switch. Normally, this would be cause for celebration, right? But instead of putting them on Nintendo Switch Online, they're selling them separately for £16.99 (or $20) each. Honestly, I thought that was a bit of a steep price.

The one thing that kind of softened the blow was the promise of Pokémon Home support. This would let you move your Pokémon between different games, which is a pretty cool feature. However, the initial excitement quickly turned into confusion. After the announcement, eagle-eyed fans noticed that any mention of Pokémon Home support had vanished from the eShop listings. What's going on here?

It feels like they were trying to keep something under wraps until the Pokémon Presents stream, doesn't it? Or maybe they're planning to add it later, but they're not ready to promise anything yet. After all, Pokémon Home integration would be the only real new thing added to these re-releases. Without it, I think most people would rather save their money for something else.

The thing is, even without that Pokémon Home guarantee, FireRed and LeafGreen are already topping the eShop charts ahead of their launch on February 27th. I think it's a clear sign of how much love there is for these games. But I think that Nintendo should be more transparent about what's included and what's not.

It's worth remembering that this re-release is priced at £16.99 each, and you only get one language per purchase. So, choose wisely! I mean, at this point it feels like Nintendo is trying to capitalize on nostalgia. I just hope that they're also giving players what they actually want.
