Sea of Stars' Huge Free DLC: A Creepy Clockwork Adventure
Sabotage Studio, the creators of The Messenger, have gifted fans of their critically acclaimed RPG, Sea of Stars, with a substantial free DLC expansion: Throes of the Watchmaker. This new adventure promises approximately eight hours of gameplay, introducing a new character, areas, music, and more.
A Creepy Clockwork Carnival
The DLC takes players to a bizarre and unsettling location: a creepy clockwork carnival reminiscent of the Backrooms. Zale and Valere, the main protagonists, must master unique carnival skills to overcome the challenges within this miniature world called Horloge. Zale trades his sword for juggling, while Valere ditches her staff for circus tumbling. A new playable character, Arty, a jaunty robo sharpshooter, joins the adventure, adding a fresh dynamic to the gameplay.
This expansion is designed to be played after completing the main game of Sea of Stars. It features a self-contained storyline with new classes, skills, and combos that won't affect your progress in the original game. The narrative delves into the mysterious Watchmaker, architect of the Clockwork Castle, and his latest creation, Horloge – a land threatened by a cursed carnival.
High-Quality Production
Throes of the Watchmaker boasts a cinematic presentation akin to the main game. The soundtrack, a collaboration between Eric W. Brown and Yasunori Mitsuda (composer of the original Chrono Trigger), promises to be an auditory delight. The DLC blends charming wackiness with a touch of Majora's Mask-esque atmosphere, creating a unique and memorable experience.
Available on May 20th, the DLC follows the recent addition of local co-op in the Dawn of Equinox update. For those who enjoyed the original Sea of Stars, this free expansion offers a significant amount of extra content and a refreshing change of pace. This is a must-play for fans of the original title.
