Sportia: Arcade Multi-Sport Game Announced for Consoles and PC with Ubisoft's Help
Hey everyone! I've got some exciting news for you. Hermit Crab Game Studio, a Brazilian developer, just revealed their latest project: Sportia! What's really cool is that they're getting support from none other than Ubisoft.
Sportia is being described as a multi-sport arcade game. While specific consoles weren't mentioned, it's slated for PC (via Steam) and consoles, so most of you can expect to play it. Now, before you get too hyped, a release date hasn't been announced yet, but I´m eager to know it!
What´s Sportia All About?
From what I gather, Sportia is all about variety. It's packing a wide range of sports, and you'll be able to play with a diverse roster of characters, each boasting different skill levels and unique attributes. I think it will bring a lot of replayability to the game, as players will probably want to test all characters and skills.
I also like that it's not just about individual skill; it emphasizes team-building. You'll need to strategically assemble your squad based on the sport you're playing and then compete against other teams. This adds a layer of strategy that goes beyond just button-mashing, don't you think?
According to Hermit Crab Game Studio's CEO, Matheus Vivian, this partnership with Ubisoft marks a "new chapter" for them. After a decade of working with sports brands, they're excited to collaborate with a gaming giant to create their most ambitious game yet. And I think we can expect a great game out of this partnership.
Vitor Leaes, the head of product and creative director, mentioned that they felt it was time to create an original experience that reflects who they are. Creating a game that celebrates Brazilian culture and their passion for sports has been a "long-time dream." I think it will be great to see elements of the Brazilian culture reflected in the game.
So, what does Ubisoft have to say about all of this? Nicolas Pouard, VP at Ubisoft's Strategic Innovation Lab, stated that they value working with studios that bring both expertise and passion. They see Hermit Crab's deep knowledge of sports games as a strong foundation for delivering something truly fresh to both the gaming and sports worlds.
In short, Sportia looks like it will blend fast-paced multiplayer action, arcade-style gameplay, and some wild mechanics. You'll be able to choose your sport, build your team, and compete either online or locally. Also, each athlete has unique abilities and play styles that you can upgrade to dominate the competition.
Beyond the matches, there's a living world to explore. I´m curious to see how it will be! You'll be able to unlock new areas, complete quests, play mini-games, and join limited-time events.
Sportia seems to be targeting a broad audience, from those who prefer competitive ranked play to those who just want to have some casual fun with friends. With multiple sports modes, customizable teams, and ever-changing gameplay, it's aiming for high replayability and unpredictable arcade chaos.
I can't wait to see more of Sportia! I will be following closely for more updates. Stay tuned!
