StarRupture: Open-World Survival Game Launches on Steam Early Access in 2026
Hey everyone! I've got some exciting news for those of you who love a good mix of base-building, exploration, and survival with a sci-fi twist. StarRupture, the open-world game where you're basically trying to survive on a hostile planet while building a factory, is officially launching in Early Access on Steam on January 6, 2026.
The developers at Creepy Jar seem pretty stoked about the game's reception so far. Their CEO, Krzysztof Kwiatek, mentioned that the initial playtest went super well, with players digging the unique blend of genres. Honestly, who wouldn't want to build a base, explore a strange world, fight off nasty creatures, and try not to die all at the same time? It’s like all my favorite game mechanics rolled into one!
Apparently, the playtest was a huge hit. Over 158,000 players jumped into the game, racking up nearly 200,000 hours watched on streams. Plus, it snagged a 91% positive review score. That’s pretty impressive!
Because of the awesome feedback, Creepy Jar decided to delay the release a bit. Initially, they were aiming for Autumn of this year, but they want to make the game even better. I totally respect that. It’s always better to wait a little longer and get a polished game than to rush something out the door that isn't ready. This extra time means more polish, more improvements, and more reasons for us to get hooked on StarRupture.
In StarRupture, you're not just some random explorer. You're a prisoner stuck on Arcadia-7, forced to build a factory and gather resources for greedy corporations. Survival isn't guaranteed, and you'll have to defend your base from enemies and, even more terrifying, the planet's own deadly star, Ruptura. Sounds intense, right?
The game features both solo and four-player cooperative play, so you can either brave the dangers of Arcadia-7 alone or team up with your friends. Either way, it sounds like an out-of-this-world experience. January 2026 can't come soon enough! In the meantime, check out the trailer below to get a taste of what's in store.
