Stardew Valley 2: A Potential Sequel

Farming Simulator

Stardew Valley, the incredibly popular farming simulator, has sold millions of copies, surpassing even Skyrim in sales. While creator Eric Barone, also known as ConcernedApe, enjoys adding content to the existing game, the possibility of a sequel has been raised.

In a recent podcast appearance, Barone explained his preference for expanding the original game rather than creating a sequel from scratch. He finds adding new features, like "green rain," far more enjoyable and spontaneous than rebuilding core systems. These additions often stem from his own gameplay experiences, leading to creative, whimsical updates.

The Allure of a Sequel

However, Barone surprisingly admitted, "I might eventually make a Stardew Valley 2." This statement has generated excitement among fans, though it also highlights a potential challenge. Barone readily admits to struggling to stop adding updates to the original game, currently working to finish Haunted Chocolatier, his latest project.

He's clearly not keen on becoming solely known for Stardew Valley; Haunted Chocolatier is his attempt at diversification. The possibility of a Stardew Valley sequel remains uncertain, a delightful "Schrödinger's cat" situation for fans anxiously awaiting both games.

For now, the focus remains on the release of Haunted Chocolatier. But the future may hold a second helping of farming, mining, and quirky villagers in a potential Stardew Valley 2. Only time will tell.
