Survival Adventure
Hey everyone! I've got some exciting news about Under a Rock, the survival adventure game from Gameforge and Nordic Trolls. Remember that title announced last year? Well, it's still cooking, and the team just dropped a development progress update along with a cool developer diary! Also, get this: the game has already surpassed 450,000 wishlists across digital stores. That's pretty wild, right? For those who haven't heard of it, Under a Rock throws you into a procedurally generated world filled with exploration, strange creatures, and plenty of mysteries. Think building bases, surviving the nights, and uncovering secrets. From what I can see, this new update isn't just about adding stuff. It's about making all the systems connect in a way that feels meaningful. Exploration, building, fighting, discovering - it should all tie together.
What's New?
The developers have been hard at work, focusing on the game's core elements. They're building a foundation for the long haul, which sounds promising. If you want to see it in action, check out the developer video. It gives you a good look at the current state of the game, from the environments and cave systems to base building and combat. * **Procedural World Evolution:** The world generation has been expanded with new "epics," improved crash sites to start from, and biomes. This makes the world way more distinct and interesting to explore. * **Caves, Oceans, and Lakes:** Caves have been upgraded with new stuff. Plus, they've done a full underwater visual overhaul, added swimmable lakes, and even started working on underwater combat! * **Base Building and Blueprint System:** They've added new crafting and construction stations, and a Blueprint system. You can now capture, share, and redeploy your bases, which is a very nice feature! * **Research, Cataloging, and Journaling:** The first phase of a discovery system is in place, turning exploration into progress via researchable entries that expand your in-game Journal. * **Combat, Animation, and Balance Improvements:** They've refined combat timings, improved visual feedback, added new weapons (including cursed ones!), improved parries, and rebalanced creature tiers. Underwater combat is also coming! * **Environmental Hazards and Survival Systems:** New fire and drowning mechanics make the environment more dangerous. This means you'll have to actually pay attention to your surroundings and prepare accordingly. I have to say, I am really liking the sound of the blueprint system. I love base-building games, but the idea of being able to share my creations or even just back them up is super appealing. No more losing hours of work to a random glitch! The game is coming to PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC (Steam, Epic Games Store). Still no release date yet, but I'll be keeping an eye out. If you are curious, go watch the developer update video and check out the new screenshots! Let me know what you think!1 Video of Under a Rock:
