Hey everyone! Get ready to set sail, because Valheim, the super popular Viking survival game, is officially making its way to PlayStation 5 in 2026. I know, it feels like a long time, but trust me, it'll be worth the wait.

For those who don't know, Valheim initially launched in Early Access on PC back in February 2021 and then hit Xbox Series and Xbox One in March 2023.

Henrik Tornqvist, co-founder of Iron Gate Studio, mentioned how excited they are to bring Valheim to a new platform. For me, that's awesome. The more people get to experience awesome games, the better!

What's Valheim All About?

So, what exactly is Valheim? Imagine a massive, procedurally-generated world inspired by Viking culture. You, along with up to 9 friends, get to explore, build, battle, and basically carve out your own Viking saga.

Developed by Iron Gate Studio and published by Coffee Stain Publishing, Valheim has been a smash hit since its Early Access debut. It's got a crazy good rating on Steam and has sold over 12 million copies. That's insane!

And it's not like the developers have been sitting still. Since its launch, Valheim has received a bunch of updates, each adding new content and features to the game.

For example, the "Hearth & Home" update revamped the base-building mechanics, letting players construct incredible longhouses. The "Mistlands" update added a spooky, fog-filled biome with new creatures and a magic system. And most recently, the "Ashlands" update throws players into a fiery landscape filled with dangerous creatures. It seems the game will be even more complete when it arrives to Playstation.
