Where Winds Meet: Action-RPG confirmed as PlayStation 5 Console Exclusive!

Action RPG

Hey everyone! Exciting news for those of you looking forward to Where Winds Meet! This action RPG, crafted by Everstone Studio, is officially launching as a PlayStation 5 console exclusive. I know, I know, exclusivity can be a bummer, but let's dive into what this means and why it's pretty cool.

A brand-new CGI trailer just dropped, giving us a deeper look into the game's world inspired by Wuxia, a genre of Chinese fantasy. The trailer showcases the lore of the Floral Reverie Sect, enhancing the excitement. While we still don't have a precise release date, we know it's slated for 2025. The fine print confirms it won't be on other consoles for at least six months after it hits PS5, PC, and mobile.

We've seen similar deals before. Remember Final Fantasy 16? It was a PS5 console exclusive from Square Enix, and it eventually made its way to PC and Xbox. This seems to be a growing trend, especially with titles coming from Chinese developers. For example, Lost Soul Aside and Phantom Blade Zero are also PlayStation console exclusives. Sony's even got a "China Hero Project" aimed at boosting game development in the region.

Black Myth: Wukong was also, in some ways, a PlayStation thing first. While it's hitting Xbox this August, that's a full year after the PS5 release. I think it's great to see this push for console games coming from China! What do you guys think?

Now, what's the game about? Where Winds Meet is set during the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms Period in Chinese history. It's an open-world action-RPG, and the combat and overall feel are heavily influenced by Wuxia fantasy. The developers are aiming to introduce this genre to a broader audience, which is fantastic.

If you're eager to get your hands on it, there's a final beta test happening on July 25th for PC (via Steam) and PS5 players worldwide. You can register now for a chance to participate. The test will include areas from previous tests, plus the city of Kaifeng. So, keep your eyes peeled!

With the success of games like Black Myth: Wukong, it's clear that the Chinese games industry is shifting towards console releases. There are other exciting titles on the horizon, too, like Wuchang: Fallen Feathers (coming to PC, PS5, and Xbox) and Tides of Annihilation (also on PC, PS5, and Xbox). The future looks bright for console gaming!
